SSA’s branches hold monthly events. As a member, you will be the first one to hear about them.








Pr

Members have the option of having their expertise endorsed through AStat or GStat Accreditation.




Mentoring
SSA’s mentoring program matches mentees and mentors, taking into consideration applicants' career stage, area(s) of statistics and reasons for participating in the program. 




Special interest groups
Members have the option to join special interest sections, such as Statistical Computing and Visualisation, Bayesian Statistics, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Statistical Education, Environmental Statistics, Official Statistics, Business Analytics, Statistical Consulting Network and Early Career and Student Statistician Network.



Awards
SSA recognises statisticians at various stages of their career with prestigious awards, such as the Pitman Medal, the Service Award, Betty Allan Travel Award or Louise Ryan Award. In addition, SSA’s branches may offer their own awards to members.





Scholarships

SSA offers Fellowship funding support, awarding eligible members $3,000 
each to support their grant application. Student members studying towards their PhD or Masters degree and working on a statistical project aiming to build their career in statistics are eligible for Top-up scholarships worth $5,000. T&C’s apply.

Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics
The Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics is an international journal reporting significant and novel contributions in statistics, ranging across articles on statistical theory, methodology, applications and computing. We have a particular focus on statistical techniques that can be readily applied to real-world problems, and on application articles with an Australasian emphasis. The Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics is managed jointly by the Statistical Society of Australia and the New Zealand Statistical Association and published four times a year. SSA members have free online access to the journal.



Free publications
Membership with SSA also includes online access to Significance magazine. Members also receive SSA's weekly newsletter straight to their inbox.




Biennial Australian 
Statistical Conference

Every two years, SSA hosts the Australian Statistical Conference.  Members have access to special rates when signing up for SSA’s signature event.




Early Career Student Statistician Conference
This is the highlight for young statisticians eager to expand their knowledge and their connections. This conference is held every two years. Members receive significant discounts when registering for this event.




Webinars
Members of SSA can participate in regular webinars presented by renowned local and international statisticians. Usually, a recording is available to members afterwards.




Training workshops
SSA’s event calendar is forever changing, with new events being added constantly. Members receive discounted access to these events, so the more you attend, the more you save.

Career centre access

The SSA maintains a Career Centre, connecting statistical expertise with opportunities.  Employers can advertise job openings for statisticians and data analysts, while job seekers can post their own resume for potential employers to view. Member employers are entitled to a $20 discount when placing an ad.
