    StatisticAL CONSULTANT

    • Up to two part-time positions (0.6FTE) available
    • Located at Camperdown Campus
    • Fixed-Term for 3 years, Base Salary: $92,053 p.a. - $100,287 p.a. pro rata Level 7, plus a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation

     

    About the opportunity 

    As a member of the Sydney Informatics Hub team, you will be responsible for independently providing high quality statistical consulting services on a one-to-one basis. These services will include duties such as; determining the appropriate experimental design and sample size, the most effective analysis and how to interpret results. There will also be some work reviewing papers and grant applications to ensure statistical validity and development and conducting of small specialist statistical workshops as needed.

    The overall goal of the role is to contribute to improvement of the quality of research proposals/ programs/ outputs, leading to publications in higher ranked journals, higher rate of grant success and greater research impact upon society.

    • Competencies in a range of statistical methods g. GLM, mixed models, logistic regression, meta-analysis, power analysis, SEM, frequentist/bayesian etc.
    • Experience in R, or some other statistical programming language such as SAS/Python and a willingness to learn R. Experience in other common statistical packages, especially SPSS, desirable
    • Experience as a Statistical Consultant with the ability to exercise independent judgement and deploy initiative in the management of client expectations
    • An ability to self-manage multiple projects ensuring timelines and budgets are met

    About us

    The core business of SIH Statistical Consulting team is the provision of one-on-one, tailored statistical consulting to support research projects undertaken by HDR students and academic staff of the University of Sydney. The service will also develop and deliver statistical workshop training at HDR level when this will compliment and optimise the resources of the consulting service.

    The main objective of the SIH Statistical Consulting team is to assist in improving the quality of research data and its analysis leading to enhancement of the quality of research proposals, research programs and research outputs. This will enhance the competitiveness of our academic and postgraduate researchers, and contribute to our capacity to recruit and retain high-quality HDR students and academic researchers.
