The NZSA invites you to an upcoming webinar exploring career progression in statistics and data science, with guest speakers from the Plant & Food Research.

This session will follow the journey from university study into industry roles, highlighting real-world transitions and experiences. The speakers will share personal insights into their career paths and offer advice on navigating opportunities in research and data-driven environments.

Whether you're a student, early-career professional, or simply interested in the field, this session will provide practical guidance and inspiration.

Guest Speakers

Olivia Angelin-Bonnet

Olivia completed her PhD in Statistics at Massey University, focusing on genotype-to-phenotype relationships from multi-omics data. Now a statistical scientist at Plant & Food Research, she works on data integration and is passionate about reproducible research and R package development.

Tom Moore

Tom is a quantitative ecologist interested in statistical modelling of environmental data, especially around nitrogen pollution, entomology, and invasive species. He also mentors emerging scientists through his initiative RgonJaRgon, a statistical support session for early-career researchers.

Hana Liang

Based in Auckland, Hana is a data scientist working on sensor data visualisation, model calibration, and machine learning applications including computer vision. She holds a Bachelor’s in Data Science from the University of Auckland and is currently completing her Master's part-time.
