    Data Analysis Australia is seeking a Graduate or Early Career Statistical Consultant to join our consulting team. We are looking for someone with qualifications in statistics or a related field (such as data science with a substantial statistical content), who loves problem solving, wishes to work on a variety of applied projects and enjoys learning new skills.

    The successful candidate will apply statistical, analytical and applied programming knowledge to a wide range of real-world problems in a commercial environment. You will work in a friendly and dedicated team of statisticians and statistical data scientists to deliver data driven insights for our clients.  As we are a small business, you will be involved in all elements of the project lifecycle with opportunities to utilise your unique talents and skills.

    Role Description

    Provide a professional consulting service by working on a variety of projects that are largely statistical, statistical data science or data analytical in nature, under the direction of and/or in collaboration with other consultants. Duties include whole-of-project activities, such as:

    • ·         Consulting with clients from a variety of industries.
    • ·         Data manipulation, transformation and preparation for analysis.
    • ·         Statistical analysis, modelling and forecasting.
    • ·         Coding with R, Python or similar.
    • ·         Data visualisation and dashboard development.
    • ·         Survey design and analysis, including sampling and questionnaire design.
    • ·         Writing reports and contributing to presentation of findings to clients.
    • ·         Ongoing on-the-job training and other professional development.
    You are not expected to have experience in all the above, but must be willing to show initiative and take on new tasks and activities as part of your learning experience. 
    The expectations of the role will depend on your experience and the appointment will be made on a best fit basis, so please feel free to apply if the position is of interest to you either as a graduate or if you have more experience.

    Desirable Qualities

    1.       Applied statistical and/or statistical data science knowledge, demonstrated through an appropriate degree. (ESSENTIAL)
    2.       Experience in or exposure to coding (R or Python preferred).  (ESSENTIAL)
    3.       Experience with other data analytic or visualisation software.
    4.       Critical thinking skills and initiative.
    5.       Experience with Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
    6.       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
    7.      

    Ability to communicate effectively with others, including both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

    Note that it is not essential to have experience in all the above qualities. There will be many opportunities to learn and develop new skills on the job. Also, if you have other skills that you feel are relevant to the role, please reference them in your application to give yourself the best chance of advancing to the interview stage.
