    We are seeking interest in an exciting new role:  Postdoctoral Research Associate/Research Fellow in multimorbidity with kidney disease

    • opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher (Level A/B) to contribute to research on cardiovascular disease and multi-morbidity (including chronic kidney disease)
    • Located in the Westmead Applied Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health at our Westmead campus, University of Sydney.
    • 12-month fixed term with possibility of extension, flexible appointment with minimum 0.5 FTE part-time, base salary from $96K pro rata, plus leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation                                                                          

    About the opportunity

    The Westmead Applied Research Centre is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher in research relevant to cardiovascular and chronic kidney disease. The broad research area is epidemiological with emphasis on health services research which will impact policy and practice. The position will rely heavily on statistical analyses so demonstrated expertise in research methods is required, and/or relevant experience in quantitative analysis and biostatistics. The position will be working under supervision of Professors Clara Chow, Angela Webster and Richard Lindley.

    The candidate will be part of a supportive, creative, flexible research environment. They will be encouraged to pursue education and development opportunities pertinent to their role and research interests.

    About you

    We are looking for a Research Associate/Research Fellow who has:

    • a strong research background including a PhD qualification and competitive publication track record in relevant field (cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, epidemiology, quantitative research or biostatistics). Cross disciplinary skills and interests will be highly regarded
    • formal qualification in research methods, such as Masters level qualifications in epidemiology, biostatistics or public health is highly desired
    • Experience with linked health data, cohort studies or clinical trials
    • excellent interpersonal skills that will enable networking across a range of stakeholder groups and maintaining collaborative working relationships.
    • high level written and oral communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to work independently, conceive, initiate, organise, and manage projects

    About us

    The Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC) was established by the University of Sydney in collaboration with the Western Sydney Local Health District, to specifically address the causes of chronic disease, with a focus on translational research that addresses the specific needs and circumstances of patients in western Sydney. WARC is made up of multidisciplinary experts who aim to prevent chronic diseases and their progression by focusing on applied clinical research that will: help patients self-manage their condition/s and provide education and support through digital health interventions
