Dear SSA Members,
Ever wondered how maths is used to manufacture parts for the aerospace industry?
AMSI and QUT are hosting a FREE Public Lecture on Monday 8 July, as part of AMSI Winter School 2019. All are welcome to attend.
Date: Monday 8 July, 6.30pm
Venue: The Kindler Theatre, GP-P421, P-Block, Queensland University of Technology, Gardens Point Campus
(light refreshments will be provided to all guests)
Numerical simulation in sheet metal manufacturing processes and its impact on the aerospace industries
presented by Mr Michael Elford, Dr Yunpeng Zhang and Dr Andrew Stephan, Boeing Defence Australia
The production of sheet metal components is an important part of the manufacturing industry and is of critical importance to the aerospace sectors. Simulation provides an opportunity for virtual optimisation of the process, which can lead to improvements in time, cost, energy overhead and waste, thereby also providing environmental benefits.
EXPLORE different numerical schemes for simulating sheet forming manufacturing processes and the importance of computational modelling in the wider aerospace industries
SEE animations of results and methods for model validation
LEARN about the day-to-day lives of mathematicians working in this exciting field and career opportunities for graduates or interns
