Great - thank you for your quick and clear response, I'll get onto them and see if what I'm trying to achieve is possible within that framework.

Cause of death data tabulated by small area geography is only available by paid consultancy service. The ABS has strict confidentiality rules on release of aggregate data for state and sub-state levels of data and this applies to cause of death information. The type of data raised (suicide by SA2) would need to be discussed with the ABS mortality consultancy team to see if the information is able to be provided. They can be contacted via the website: https://www4.abs.gov.au/web/survey.nsf/contactform/.

Hi, I'm new here, and not super statistical.   I'm working on a data vis project for a NFP group LivingWorks who are are suicide prevention trainer.

I'm trying to get a set of data on causes of death 2018 (specifically Intentional Self Harm).  In the report for 3303.0 it says in the Geographic Classification it says that the death statistics are coded to SA2.  (by which my understanding is that it's down to a local area within the state, which is what I would like)

But in the stat file, or the XLS the closest I can get is the state.  Or in one of the XLS files I got Melbourne Melbourne/Rest of Victoria, Greater Sydney/Rest of NSW.

Could someone direct me to how to get this data by local region? (or if I even can get it?)  I work for PwC, and we have licenses, so I have access to ABS stat, Tables, and Microdata.   None of which went to that level I'm after.

    Thanks in advance - Andy
