    About this role:


    HealthStats NSW is an interactive, web-based application that allows users to freely access data and tailor reports about the health of the NSW population. The Senior Biostatistician provides expert advice about statistical and analytical methods and processes to support major enhancements to HealthStats NSW.


    Where you'll be working:


    The HealthStats NSW Team is part of the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence at the NSW Ministry of Health. The Centre produces relevant and timely epidemiological reports of high quality; provides highly technical statistical analysis and interpretation of complex data; develops innovative systems for data collection, analysis and reporting; drives NSW Health’s population health strategic agenda, by building the evidence base, translating it into policy and practice, and enhancing capability for the population health workforce and research sector; and encourages and promotes excellence through rigour, creativity and pragmatism.


    What you'll be doing:

    The Senior Biostatistician will contribute to the development and implementation of enhancements to the HealthStats NSW software application by providing business analysis support for the re-development of a semi-automated ‘Statistics pipeline’ including development of a metadata database, migrating statistical analytical programs to the ‘statistics pipeline’ and developing new data visualisations. The Senior Biostatistician will also undertake statistical analyses of large health administrative data sets for reporting in HealthStats NSW; develop and operationalise new statistical methods for the analysis and creation of new indicators;

    1) This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to build a new data reporting tool. In addition to developing statistical scripts (in SAS and R) for the new system, you will also play a crucialrole in integrating these scripts with the system. There will be a need to communicate requirements and work to specifications. Have you had similar experiences in the past? Please describe the processes you followed to ensure that integration went well.

     

    2) In addition to developing novel analysis scripts, this role involves running repeated analyses using SAS macros and R packages. Describe your experience and personal contributions to working in a team that created and managed complex scripts used for repetitive tasks efficiently.
