Conference or workshop Scholarship for Students, Queensland Branch SSA

    FUNDING PURPOSE

    The scholarship can be put towards covering the cost of a statistically related conference or workshop in 2022, including registration (online or in person), accommodation or travel. The recipient/s will be required to provide a short article on conference/workshop highlights within two weeks of the end of the event for publication in the SSA Newsletter and, if applicable, acknowledge QLD SSA in their abstract or presentation.


    ELIGIBILITY

    Open to all Honours, Masters and PhD students enrolled at a Queensland university (full-time or part-time), who are SSA members and will be presenting statistically orientated talk/poster at a conference or attending a statistical workshop in 2022. The cost of SSA student membership is $20 per year.


    AWARD AMOUNT

    The maximum award is $500 per person/year. The award can only be used for a conference or workshop registration (online or in person), related accommodation and travel.  Awards will be paid directly to the award recipient unless otherwise requested. The award monies will be in the form of reimbursement after receipt of paid invoices.  Up to three scholarships will be awarded.


    DETERMINATION OF AWARD RECIPIENTS


    Applications will be reviewed by members of the SSA Queensland Branch Council to ensure a high statistical content and other eligibility requirements.  All eligible applications will go into the second round, where up to three winners will be chosen at random and will be notified by email on 30th June 2022.


    HOW TO APPLY

    E-mail the following to the Queensland Branch Secretary:

    • Personal details: name, email address and phone number and a short paragraph introducing yourself, your current degree, and qualifications and/or career experience.
    •  Evidence of enrolment at a Queensland university (e.g., picture of student ID card).
    • Abstract of talk/poster or a short justification of why the workshop will be beneficial to your career.


    The closing date for applications is 5PM Sunday 26th June 2022. Late applications will not be considered.
