    The Opportunity

    Working in Janssen Australia’s Market Access team presents an exciting opportunity to use your biostatistics expertise to positively impact access to medicine in Australia that will save and improve lives.  In this crucial role as a Senior Biostatistician, you will lead and conduct analyses of clinical data to strategically inform reimbursement submissions to PBAC/MSAC. These analyses focus on demonstrating the value of our innovative medicines to payers across a variety of therapeutics areas. With your knowledge and understanding in biostatistics you will then proactively provide statistical input and conduct clinical, epidemiological and economic data analyses for pipeline product market access and reimbursement feasibility assessments.  You will play a key role in substantiating our product value through providing the design and statistical analysis input and advice into the strategic development and execution of real-world data generation strategies. Lastly, as the subject matter expert in statistical concepts and methodologies, you will be an advisor and trainer on this matter to the health economics team and business partners.

    As a Senior Biostatistician in Janssen Australia’s market access team, your key focus will involve the following:

    • Planning and performing analyses using raw patient level and published clinical data using standard statistical software packages to inform development of reimbursement strategies, submissions, and feasibility assessment for pipeline products
    • Authorship and input into reimbursement submissions to PBAC/MSAC
    • Contribution to understanding evidence gaps and the development, analysis and interpretation of real-world data generation activities
    • Providing education and training to other employees in the business on statistical concepts and methods
    • Collaborating with internal regional and global stakeholders including market access, real world evidence and statistical groups where necessary to keep up to date on relevant data-related activities and analyses to leverage locally and optimize the planning and conduct of local analyses
    • Engaging with external customers, including consultants, Department of Health and PBAC/MSAC Secretariat and other third parties as necessary to ensure above key responsibilities are performed
    • Ensuring appropriate and timely communication to relevant stakeholders on data generation, analysis and interpretation as it relates to reimbursement strategy, submission, feasibility of other project work conducted

    The Senior Biostatistician role is a key member of the Janssen Australia’s Market Access team. As such, you will bring a minimum Post Graduate tertiary qualification either in Statistics, Mathematics, Life Science (e.g., public health or epidemiology), Medical or related degree. Related industry experience is also preferred, especially one in Pharmaceutical industry (incl. CRO or consulting) or biostatistics experience in academia or government. Lastly, since the objective of the role is to be a subject matter expert in biostatistics, lead analysis, and advising the health economics teams and business partners on product value substantiation, you will need to have strong understanding of evidence-based medicine, and demonstrated advanced ability to plan, analyse, interpret, and communicate medical and scientific data.
