    • Fixed Term, full-time appointment (3 years)
    • Level A/B:  $79,490 - $115,840 + 17% superannuation

    NIASRA is a highly performing research institute based at the University of Wollongong. Currently NIASRA contains five research centres: Centre for Bioinformatics and Biometrics (which focusses on agriculture, forestry and other sustainable primary industries); Centre for Environmental Informatics; Centre for Sample Survey Methodology, and the Statistical Consulting Centre. The new Centre for Health and Social Analytics, the employment of a TIBRA Professorial Fellow and an increasing focus on Data Science and training represent a time of change and refocus. NIASRA will play a leading role in the implementation of the University’s Data and Decision Science Initiative. NIASRA’s objective is to achieve excellence in applied statistics and data science research by undertaking high-quality and high-impact research, consulting and professional education and training. It collaborates extensively with researchers both within UOW and externally. It aims to improve its national and international profile and contribute the University’s objective of being ranked within the top 1% of universities worldwide. Staff members also participate in the teaching program in Statistics in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and subjects.

    The position will involve providing statistical advice and services concerning the design and analysis of research projects undertaken by academic staff, higher degree research students. The successful applicant will also participate in the program of training and workshops provided by the SCC. The position involves advising on a diverse range of statistical and analytical methods and software. This position also includes an allocation of 20% where the successful candidate can pursue their own research program.
