Join us virtually to learn essential science communication skills from the experts across four (4) exciting workshops covering:

We hope participants will come away from the series with the confidence to share their research in an engaging manner.

    About workshop 4: Presenting Virtually

Presenting is an important aspect of science communication, and in recent times it has become essential to be able to present in both live and virtual formats. In this workshop, hear from Dr. Karen Lamb about how presenting virtually is different to the conventional presentation and get some tips and anecdotal advice to better your online presentation skills.

About the presenter: Dr. Karen LambKaren Lamb, Superstar of STEMKaren Lamb, Superstar of STEM

Karen is a consultant bio statistician in the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne. Karen is passionate about statistical communication and gets a real buzz out of helping researchers in other disciplines use statistics to answer research questions. This is often more about successful communication of statistics than it is about the statistics themselves! Karen finds the process of making non-mathematicians comfortable with mathematics to be both challenging and hugely rewarding. As a result, the focus of her research has been as diverse as the people she has been fortunate enough to work with, including doctors, psychologists, epidemiologists, social scientists, biologists and many more! She was one of the inaugural Science & Technology Australia Superstars of STEM which aimed to promote women working in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics which helped her hone her presentation and communication skills. Karen still much prefers in-person
presentations and teaching than presenting via Zoom but will share her experiences (good and bad!) of presenting in an online format to help you with your own presentations.

This event is free for registered delegates of ECSSC. If you are registered for ECSSC, please contact Jodi Phillips, SSA's Events Coordinator, for your booking code.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received 7 days prior to the workshop will be refunded. From then onwards no part of the registration fee will be refunded. However, registrations are transferable within the same organisation.
