Types of membership

SSAI offers the following Membership Types:

Full Membership: $235.00 ($240.00 from 1 December 2017)

Members will receive the SSA online Newsletter four times a year and have online access to four copies of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics each year. If printed copies of the Journal are required, the fee for the full membership is $240.00 ($245.00 from 1 December 2017). Members will be part of the local SSA branch and receive notices of local meetings and events. Members are entitled to reduced fees for workshops and conferences.

Multi-Year Memberships for full Members are available for up to five years. Any future membership subscription increases will not be applied for pre-paying members over the life of the advanced payment. Renew online or contact the SSA office to request a multi-year renewal form.

Full-time Student Membership: $20.00

Discounted student membership of SSA is available to those who are engaged in full-time studies and do not have an income.  If you earn a salary you will generally not qualify for student membership.  The reason for this is that the cost for the administration of student members exceeds the annual fee of $20 and therefore this membership type is reserved for students who do not have an income. If you are unsure of your status please feel free to contact SSA  at [email protected] with information about your student status and employment status (full-time, part-time, casual or permanent, name of employer) and an individual assessment will be made.

Documentary evidence of current full-time enrolment status will have to be mailed to the SSA Head Office (PO Box 213, Belconnen ACT 2616) or emailed to the SSA membership officer ([email protected]). This can be either a copy of the student identity card issued by the educational institution or a document providing evidence signed and verified by the institution.  If proof of full-time student status has not been received within 14 days of signing up with SSA the membership will be upgraded to full membership and an invoice will be issued for the difference in the membership fees.

Students do not receive a printed copy of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics, but they can access it online. Members will be part of the local SSA branch and receive notices of local meetings and events. Members are entitled to reduced fees for workshops and conferences.
