Event – Statistics in Stilettos
You are invited to a breakfast event, co-hosted by the NSW Branch of the Statistics Society of Australia and University of Technology Sydney. The event will provide a valuable networking opportunity for women interested in careers in statistics and related fields. Attendees of all genders, at all stages of their career, from students to retired persons, are welcome to attend.
In addition to having some unstructured time for general conversation, Louise Ryan will talk about her recent experience interviewing Professor Nan Laird for Statistical Science (see “A Conversation with Nan Laird” by Louise Ryan, Statistical Science 2015, Vol. 30, No. 4, 582-596 – a pdf copy may be obtained at http://arxiv.org/abs/1512.03533). The Conversation reveals some interesting perspectives on how Professor Laird managed to become one of the most highly cited and well known statisticians in the world, whilst at the same time balancing the demands and responsibilities of family life. Attendees are encouraged to read the Conversation ahead of time.
This free event will be held from 8am to 9:30am on Friday June 17th in Oval Classroom, Chau Chak Wing Building (Building 8, Level 2, Room 002) at University of Technology Sydney.
