The branch holds monthly meetings where local and visiting statisticians present seminars covering aspects of their work. Meetings commence at 6:00 pm and are usually held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Monadelphous Design Studio at The University of Western Australia (UWA); members and guests are invited to meet over wine and cheese from 5:30 pm, usually in the Monadelphous Integrated Learning Centre (MILC). (Some meetings may be held at other venues and/or on a different date, for exact details of the time and venue of the next meeting, click here.)
Following the seminar(s), members and guests are welcome to adjourn with the speaker to a nearby restaurant for dinner. The meetings thus provide an excellent opportunity to meet other statisticians both socially and professionally.
Visitors are welcome at all regular meetings.
Tuesday, 10th October 2017:
Matt Tuson will present a talk on “Forecasting geographical hotspots of potentially preventable hospitalisations”. The abstract and information about the speaker is available here. Members and guests are invited to mingle over wine and cheese from 5:30 p.m. onwards in the Monadelphous Integrated Learning Centre, University of Western Australia. Following the meeting you are invited to dine with the speaker at a nearby restaurant. Visitors are welcome.
To find the Monadelphous Design Studio, enter UWA at Fairway Entrance 2. The third building on your right (which forms the eastern boundary of the courtyard) is the MILC. The entrance to the MILC faces the courtyard (i.e. toward Fairway). Take the lift or stairs that are straight ahead of you to the first floor; the first floor landing is the usual venue for pre-meeting drinks and nibbles. Turn left as you leave the stairs or lift and the entrance to the Monadelphous Design Studio is immediately on your left.
This map may help you find us if you are unfamiliar with the local area (the MILC is the green and yellow box).
