Presented by Kerrie Mengersen, Centre for Data Analysis, Modelling & Computation, QUT
QueenslandUniversity of Technology
Registration begins at 8.30am on the first day and the course runs from 9.00am until 5.00pm.
Course Summary: Meta-analysis typically involves quantitative synthesis of results from multiple studies in order to better understand a phenomenon of interest. Meta-analysis is a natural outcome of systematic reviews and forms a foundation for research in many fields from medicine to criminology to ecology.
This 3-day course will cover the basics of meta-analysis with a focus on the quantitative aspects of model building and statistical analysis. Topics will include fixed and random model formulations and their extensions including mixed effects and meta-regression; computational approaches including method of moments, maximum likelihood and Bayesian frameworks; and other important issues such as dealing with dependence. The course is introductory, but assumes a basic level of training or experience in statistical modelling and analysis (including probability distributions and regression).
Venue: S block room 405, QUT Gardens Point Campus
Cost for the course: Members of the SSAI: $825.00
Non-Members: $1050.00
Student Members SSAI: $500.00
Non-Member Students (full-time students): $525.00
For non-members, the workshop fee includes a complimentary one-year membership with the SSAI.
Places for full-time students are limited.
